Built to Withstand Abuse

Every corner of the Rankin Tarpaulin is double-layered with 8oz waxed canvas and reinforced with an internal 25mm webbing strut. Brass eyelets and snap buttons are anchored securely for repeated, high-stress use—whether hoisted as shelter, snapped into a tunnel, or staked to the ground. It’s not just strong—it’s overbuilt for adventure.

Multi-Functional & Modular

Use it your way: ground sheet, windbreak, rain shelter, swag roll, or emergency bivvy. Four snap buttons per side let you tunnel it, fold it, or combine it with another Rankin tarp. With multiple webbing loops, eyelets, and tie-down points, this tarp adapts to your environment—not the other way around.

Heritage-Grade Natural Materials

We craft bags from heavyweight beeswaxed canvas, genuine brass, and premium full-grain leather, delivering authentic quality, sustainability, and enduring style that matures beautifully rather than deteriorating.

FAQs

Waxing canvas is a natural way or protecting the fabric and whoever is under it. The wax finish causes water to bead off instead of soaking into the fibres. The advantage is that this method of proofing the fabric also allows it to breathe, unlike the plastic treatment options found in waterproof fabrics. Want to know more? Read this article.

Rankin Tarpaulin

The tarp was purchased primarily to toss over a sleeping bag as extra condensation protection & as a ground mat when required. It is a well made & crafted product, easily folded & stored, I imagine it will provide many years of excellent service.

Thank you for your review! We're glad the tarpaulin meets your needs and hope it serves you well for years to come.

Rankin tarp

I haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet, but first thought, it will do what i have brought it for
A very good and well made bit of kit and looks like it will last a long time with a little care.
The bag it came in is a marvellous piece also, if it came with webbing loops or D rings , it would turn the bag into a great carry bag. I have taken the tarp out and replaced it with my poncho and hood fitted very easily and put my new tarp into the bag the poncho came in , made that an easy fit also.
Overall i would highly recommend the Rankin Tarp, and as usual another high quality item from a great Australian company. Well done. Cheers Rob.

Tarpaulin Review

Good product. Used it as a light weight shade shelter at the beach. Big enough to easily fit two people under it in chairs. Great protection from the hot sun. Could easily use it as a sleep shelter.

Rankin tarp 1st thoughts

My purchase of the Rankin tarp had one specific use in mind, my intention was to use it as a good quality ground sheet for shooting at the range.
I found its size perfect for my needs, not too big & the right size to lay on. Its ability to keep the moisture away when shooting off the mound was an essential criteria.
I have since used it for a small shelter when I have been out glassing for small game on less than favourable days.
Things I liked.
. Waxed canvas, super soft with a nice patina.
.brass buttons-
.Folds up into a small bag & lived in the boot of the car.
.Comments from friends on where did you get that!
Things I would like to see.
. Brass eyelets to make it easier to attach rope & pegs.

My experience with the Rogue Waxed Canvas Duffel Bag

Experience has been excellent so far. I wanted a bag I could throw in the back of the ute and not worry too much about water or dust.
Bag feels very well made. I also had to contact Jack Stillman regarding my order and the service I received was excellent.
My wife is thinking about getting a bag now also.

Rankin Tarpaulin

The Rankin Tarpaulin is great because I can use it to put wood down in the back of my car and keep it clean.

No tie out points or grommets on the corners

Nice fabric, good basic carry pouch. Studs to turn in in to a bivi, albeit small. Only gripe is theres no tie out points or grommets on the corners, only in the middle of each side. So theres literally no way to tie it up or stake it down. Its basically a groundsheet.

No tie out points or grommets on the corners

Nice fabric, carry bag is good, although could have added a simple strap. Studs can make it in to a bivi type thing, albeit small. Biggest gripe is theres to tie out points or grommets on the corners!! Theres literally no way to tie it up or stake it down. Its literally just a ground sheet, nothing more.

Hey Derek,

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback.

I can see you ordered this as part of our first-release batch of the Rankins. Unfortunately, this batch did not include all the brass eyelets as we had intended them to (although, this was displayed clearly without them at the time of the listing).

I did send through an email update to you & everyone else who had purchased this one at full price, offering a cash back incentive/ repair/ replacement options, I can see you never claimed any of these though. I'd be happy to still honour this initial reimbursement to you if you like.

We have since updated the Rankin, and 6 brass eyelets are included around it's perimeter.

Kind regards,

Tia Stillman

I purchased 2 Rankin tarpaulin’s. Most happy with the purchase. Have used one already - actually its first use was a makeshift poncho. Worked well.
