Waxing canvas is a natural way or protecting the fabric and whoever is under it. The wax finish causes water to bead off instead of soaking into the fibres. The advantage is that this method of proofing the fabric also allows it to breathe, unlike the plastic treatment options found in waterproof fabrics. Want to know more? Read this article.
Yes. This product is covered with our lifetime guarantee. That means we are super confident that our manufacturing process is so tight won't see a popped seam or a shonky zipper anytime soon. Waxed canvas is easy to take care of. The ensure the longevity of the canvas we recommend you re-wax it at least every 12 months. This keeps the product water-resistant, mould resistant and it also binds the fibres together.

- We ship using Australia Post from Perth Western Australia. That means items shipped to the Eastern States of Australia can take between 6-14 business days. If you are not sure, please chat with us.

- Free Shipping is offered for orders over $200 within Australia.

I have a few Stillman Bags for different needs the duffle is awesome for the weekend and overnighters This purchase is for my wk travel wich is longer and is excellent. I have swapped out my North face duffle for this one which is saying something …I love the height of the roll top allowing for extra when required . It is as are all my products most excellent

Expedition Waxed Canvas Duffel Bag.
It has taken me a while to get my head around this duffel. I new it was large from the specs L60cm x W25cm x H47cm it was received it flat packed so when I opened it, it was in a tote shape (I was expecting on my head it look like duffel shape) and it was enormous so much bigger than I expected. I measured the length to be of 63.5cm is at the bottom and then increasing to 82.5cm as it goes up to the top. I felt it was too big & cumbersome for me.
The 16oz waxed is bullet proof (its built like a tank literally). Attempting to cinching it down to a balanced looking duffel shape it was not that compliant with me as when new as it is so stiff, but the waxed canvas by nature will soften with use and hold a memory of how your shaping it.
I learned if packed items vertically in the tote format it maintains slimmer profile for it's various carry modes e.g. hand held, sling or cross body mode against my body as opposed to packing flat as you would in duffel style. Your actually geting 2 bags in 1 and for me once getting over the initial shock of being bigger than I expected as in too big (I'm glade I gave it a bit more time rather returning it) as I'm now enjoying the enormous versatile capacity it offers.

Fantastic quality, gets even better with use. Stiff at first then softens making easier to fold. I fully expanded it holds a huge amount. I have used for travel (bag) equivalent of of my medium suitcase. On my bike, matches my Hepco and Becker saddle bags. Leather tabs on bottom make it easy to attach to bike.

This bag is the perfect addition for someone who doesn’t want to be cluttered by everyday things any more. If it doesn’t fit in this bag, it’s not needed. But remember, there’s a lot that fits in this bag.

The only criticism is that the leather handgrip could have the press studs swapped out as they tend to pop open when carrying buy the handles , other than that you won’t get a more solid and cool vintage looking bag 🙏💖

This was my first JS purchase.
I love gear that is made to last, especially when they get better with age. I had some mild concerns about the quality of materials and manufacturing, however I was very impressed when it arrived. Really nice packaging as well.
The bag has everything I wanted and I will be more than happy to strap it to my beloved Indian Chief Motorcycle for solo camping trips. As good if not better than offerings from Filson and Fjallraven of which I have used in the past.
I only took one star off (tried to only take half a star off) as I would have liked a slightly heavier leather, but considering the price point this is really being picky. The leather is very good though.
Overall, this is a great bag with everything one could want. I will definitely be buying more Jack Stillman gear.

Excellent quality ,This bag is well thought out & will last for years . Great value for the money . I like the rugged look . Has a huge capacity for those longer trips, yet has the ability , using the short strap , to snug down to a smaller size for a weekend away . The lining is nice & the internal pockets to tuck away any smaller items , phone charger etc is very handy . I throughly recommend this bag . I have had my eye on this duffel for a while now as I am an owner of a cross body sling bag that has served me well daily for years and shows very little sign of wear.
I did my first trip to Melbourne from Cairns recently and was so impressed with the volume the bag can hold. It even holds my trigger point massager that I usually have to leave behind.
obviously such a big duffel can be difficult to carry when it is full. Not so as I bought a collapsible hand trolley that carries it easily and also fits inside it for plane journeys.
So happy i finally own one.
Now…. what else do I need from Jack Stillman?

For our recent Xmas sojourn I really did only need 1 bag! Usually I need several to hold clothes, shoes, electronic gear and a book or 2! That lalways eads to solid ribbing from my partner about “all my stuff” Not this year - not a comment from her! Thanks Jack Stillman - a great looking, solid and well made versatile bag it is!
